Shibboleth Third Party Integration

The whole point of standards and standard protocols is to be
{software,vendor,implementation} independent.
So no, it does not to be the Shibboleth SP. If the architecture of the
service matches the installation requirements and deployment
assumptions made by the Shibboleth SP it's certainly the best choice,
though.
