It means there were no values supplied from the underlying source of the
attribute, a dependency or data connector or whatever.

I would strongly suggest that you go figure out your LDAP issues
separately, without the IdP involved. Worry about the IdP when you have a
working directory, working queries, and the data coming back is what you
expect.
