Btw thanks Scott for all your help...

I would say that additional documentation explaining the entityID and how
they relate would be important.
I also do think there needs to be documentation similar to the one I was
referencing to do a step by step of how to install both on a single server. 
People tend to get scared about connecting to some external server for
testing when we're talking about a security solution. ( I sure am).

I'm pretty sure he did, or at least the SP metadata in question looks it.

And I'm pretty convinced that what's happening is that the IdP loading its
own metadata is masking the SP metadata with the same entityID in it. I
don't know why the error message is exactly what it is, but I'm pretty sure
the SP metadata is invisible here.
