That built it for me!

Interestingly the https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DEV/pages/1123450991/Setting+Up+Configuring+and+Using+Maven page says
“Developers must create a user settings file ~/.m2/settings.xml as follows.” But doesn’t follow with the info, but links to the MavenRepositories page you gave at the end of the section, a hint that the settings.xml can be found in that page would be helpful to those setting up!

Building anything with Maven more or less "just works" because it pulls the dependencies, you don't have to build them all (or OpenSAML itself for that matter).

I suspect what you're missing is the proper Maven set up, I linked in the topic a bit more clearly, but https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DEV/pages/2891317253/MavenRepositories is what you're after.

If you're programming with all this, then the revised project layout information at https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IDP5/pages/3251470353/Project+Layout is helpful but mostly as a contrast to the older layout for those familiar with it.
