Indeed, it seems to be a fork of Moonshot's mech_eap code,
understandable since a lot of the code for building a MIT KRB GSS
mechanism would be shared.
If you look at the files, many/most of them still have "Copyright (c)
2011, JANET(UK)" in the header.
I think I heard of the existence of this implementation once, but it
pre-dates me joining Jisc to take care of Moonshot (note last commit is
from 2016, 7 years ago).
Moonshot development went on, but it has little to do with this one in
terms of providing support for Shibboleth v3 or v4.
