ShibSP packaging for Ubuntu/Debian

Hi,
I would like to ask about the plans (or a path forward) for ShibSP on
Debian/Ubuntu, after SWITCH discontinued the repo they were running [1].
Before leaving SWITCH, Etienne made his packaging code public [2] so it
could be picked up by someone else. He also created an Ubuntu PPA [3]
where he added myself and Scott C as members - but I don't know if any
plans about using this PPA have ever been made.
Are there any plans for supporting ShibSP on Debian/Ubuntu distributions
- or at least, for building binaries for these packages?
We (REANNZ) use Ubuntu and have a number of ShibSP deployments
(primarily the infrastructure for Tuakiri, the NZ federation).
AFAIK, all of our members use RedHat (or derivatives), so it's just our
internal use - and we might solve this by just creating an internal repo.
But before doing so, I wanted to check if there are any plans to provide
binaries "directly from the source" - I'd hope the "docker-based local
build system" now in place would be able to handle this as well.
We'd be happy to contribute to maintenance of the build scripts (which
could hopefully start from what SWITCH has kindly shared), but would
rather stay clear of running a public repository ourselves (that might
be seen as a replacement for [1]).
Thanks a lot in advance for letting me know what the plans on this are.
Cheers,
Vlad
