IIRC this means that the URL your plugin provided to check for updates was not findable..  there are command line options to avoid checking or for hand specifying the URL, but at this stage I’d recommend that you get this nailed before you go any further down the development route.

I’ve not been in to the documentation recently, but I know that there is an (api level) property driven base class which can make a lot of the low level plumbing easier, I’m hoping that someone will be able to point it out.
