IIS7 Native plugin - When/how to Alpha/Beta test it?

Maybe this is a topic for Friday

The IIS7 Native server plugin is partially baked. I have built an installer for just the plugin (and its required files) and used
it to deploy on top of an existing 2.6.0.1 IIS install. I’ve used that install to write some skeletal documentation. [1]

The problem now is how to get it tested more widely. I am somewhat daunted by the number of different ways that IIS can be deployed
and as a developer I can never even guess at what is standard or expected or even possible. So we need real testers.

If we had a super keen tester I would be happy to let this out for limited Alpha test at this stage, but if any testers we get are
liable to get bored and walk away if the out of the box experience isn’t 100% then now is not the time for them and so we need to do
more due diligence. But then I come up dry: what due diligence might be needed? 32 bit app pools definitely, how about different
IIS versions?

Maybe I should spend some time seeing what precisely is needed to get a Shibboleth ISAPI install working (heretofore I have had to
jiggle the config by hand after install) then I might be able to get better upgrade documents (which is currently 'seek out and
destroy all references to the isapi plugin').

So I’m soliciting for ideas about what to do next, and if that is “get it out for test”, how to go about that.

/Rod
