The original author isn't around anymore AFAIK.

I can't disavow ownership, that's the problem. I made a mistake by accepting it and now I'm stuck with it. That's why the project is so "difficult" to work with. We can't just accept stuff and then get stuck with it when the author inevitably moves on. We're left holding the bag.

But if you want to take over maintaining and supporting the code, and are willing to commit to that long term, I'm very happy to work with you.
