Memcached storage plugin improvements

Hi,

I'm currently working on taking an in-depth look at the memcache storage 
service plugin. I think there are some opportunities for reducing the 
amount of traffic that gets sent back and forth, specifically regarding 
the way context updates are handled. I also have some patches to add 
support for redis/twemproxy style hash tagging and mcrouter-style hash 
stop strings that I think might be useful.

Since I know Scott disavows ownership of the memcache-store code, I was 
wondering if perhaps the original author (or anyone willing to take it 
on board) might still be around to review and discuss?
