Sorry, I don't understand this stuff at all, and so keep clear of the
discussions leaving it to my betters to discuss; but here I have to ask:
Why?  In my limited understanding the parent version is to do with our
shipping versions (even if we are the sole customer) and test artefacts are
completely orthogonal to what we release..

I suppose the obverse question is, if we upgrade the java which is installed
do we bump the parent version?  That really *does* affect the shipped
artefact.
