If you check it in, the version has to change, independent of anything else.

Given other complicating factors, I don't know what the answer is about branching, it depends what we wanted to get included into a 3.1.1 patch. If it's solely for a specific fix, then I wouldn't bother branching because we can just branch off the tag or a revision later for that one change, and we likely wouldn't be revising the parent or much else beyond opensaml and the idp.

I really don't know how to coordinate on it. In the past, we had a simple model of dictatorship, like the SP is now. That makes it all very easy. Starting to think we'll need to go back to weekly calls for a while because it's very difficult to have these discussions asynchrnoously. We either need that, or we need to consistently be in a group chat to have the discussions.
