The OP is mistakenly referring to "the IdP's metadata", but calling another system for an attribute query involves *another* IdP's metadata, not itself. It's a reasonable thing and probably would have come up if we got around to implementing such a connector.

Lacking a SOAP client until just recently, we never did one. That's probably a more useful feature to leverage a SOAP client than either of the reasons we built it out.
