Mostly Scott,
If you have the time and inclination, maybe a refresh of the “Branches, Tags, and Versions” wiki page is warranted.
For example, we aren’t creating branches for minor versions as written, and we’ve reverted to including the patch component of snapshot version numbers.
I bring it up because I went to bump the parent-v3 version, but it’s obviously TRUNK-SNAPSHOT, which I don’t think is documented. I felt like I wanted to replace TRUNK- with 10-, but that would break/regress the handful of utility projects which specify TRUNK-SNAPSHOT. Not a big deal, but I wonder if we want to continue to use TRUNK-SNAPSHOT or not.
I think your suggestion to call for patch commits before bumping the minor version is a good idea, and should be noted as well.
The other dangling issue regarding versioning I have is whether or not all components of our stack should be released with the same parent(-v3) POM version, I think that’s worth a note/explanation too.
If I should whack/update that wiki page I can give it a swing, but it would still need your review.
