Without knowing how much work involved it's hard for me to say whether it's "worth" it, but OTOH I think we're reaching the critical state of needing to catch up and invest the time to get this all worked out once and for all.

A comment about the issues with maven supporting all the versions: Is it time to start looking at Gradle?
