It's being a bit painfull right now as I work out how to get eclipse to
auto-load the spring sources.  So I'm mostly struggling the with the
environment rather than the debug (not got there yet)

I'll welcome suggestion on how to short cut that - for instance, can I build
a war file which is empty of all the jar files and rely on the eclipse
classpath to collect that?
