mixing shorthand and long form syntax in SP configuration

That depends on the options and I think more to the point the locations of
the handlers used. They can be combined without any problems, but not if
they overlap. The "hard" part is that the Locations aren't self-evident
now.

I thought there were also warnings in the log emitted.

See above. It's not a corner case, particularly, but few people know how
to configure the old syntax correctly, so I certainly don't emphasize it.

It would be fine for users, it's just a configuration question.
