That is pretty much the upgrade process as I have understood it. Given that most of the plugins won’t work on both versions, the sequence was pretty much:

* upgrade latest V4
* upgrade plugins as much as possible (but this raises a question as to whether it could know that a “later” version is better even though the latest is V5 only, and that may present a problem)
* upgrade IdP
* upgrade all the plugins again before trying it

But I see step 2 as probably being the biggest mess because “latest” will be incompatible and there’s probably no way to upgrade to “not latest”?

Aside from that mess, if all it took to get more plugins working was that exception rethrow option, that doesn’t seem to onerous.
