Worth considering changing the visit to visitElement, convert to convertElement, etc. to allow easier extension to attributes: both sets of methods need to live inside the same implementation class, after all. Slightly less disruptive to existing code to just have the new methods include “attribute” in their names, but this is the time to be disruptive if we think it would be beneficial.
