I don’t think the downside of just doing the first warrants taking more care. Yes, it will “put stuff back” if people remove them, but honestly it doesn’t matter much. I don’t use, but still have, all of those files in my IdP from the original install.

I keep forgetting that the rest of that tree isn’t actually copied in, just merged in from dist/webapp.

So…yeah, I think just copy in css and images without overwriting anything and be done with it.
