The idea is to be able to run make $PLATFORM , for any valid $PLATFORM in $PLATFORMS , to build each component that ought to be built on $PLATFORM. This would be comparable to the existing support for make $COMPONENT that builds $COMPONENT on each platform on which it is supported.
