I think we would generally advise against having that many metadata sources, it’s really not the sort of approach we would encourage in light of the new types of metadata providers. LocalDynamic is meant to obviate that in most cases.

That said, I think we can extend the ByReference syntax to make providerRef a list. That is more viable than trying to allow filters in the Chaining provider. That would take significant changes to OpenSAML.
