In chatting to Scott Cantor ( https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?accountId=557058%3A5b78efc9-1379-42cc-a3f6-56c6ea3a0007 ) it sort of occurs to me that in C++ terms maven things that properties re virtual methods but my code things that they are just methods.

But I’m pretty much convinced that forcing the obvious is the correct thing to do, as per https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DEV/pages/2898395154/Overriding+Managed+Dependency+Versions+for+Patch+Releases
