This may belong in OpenWS? Features I think are needed at minimum:

- evaluation of TLS server cert using our standard trust engines and metadata
- some additional HTTP authentication options (basic-auth, digest, client TLS)
- support for signing and verification of the whole envelope
- support for custom SOAP headers
- support for outside influence over the transport layer
