The Shibboleth Project team has updated the prerelease of our upcoming
3.0.0 Identity Provider release, and alpha-3 is now available for testing.
[1]

We expect this to be the final alpha release before a limited beta prior
to final release.

Limited documentation for testers, primarily expected to be people
familiar with the 2.x software, is available with some updates:

https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/IDP30/

As this is an alpha, we have made some breaking configuration changes (and
will likely make more), so starting from scratch is suggested for anybody
already testing alpha-2. The documentation will be getting updated to
reflect changes for this alpha over the next week.

A major change in this release is the addition of a true installer with
upgrade support from V2, to be run after unpacking the distribution. A
Windows installer is also available. The final release will include a
substantially similar install and upgrade process.

We encourage any and all testing of the software, and you may file direct
bug reports against the "IDP" project in our issue tracker, or discuss
issues or ask questions on the development list [2] freely.

Thanks to all the testers who have provided feedback and bug reports so
far.
