A Discovery Service provides a web interface that allows a user to select which Identity Provider they will use when accessing a Service Provider. The Centralized Discovery Service is a discovery service that is installed separately from, and can service requests from many, Service Providers. Or, in today's current lingo, it is a "cloud" service which many individual Service Providers may use.
