This isn't log4j, that's a Java thing.<br>

The primary tracing of something like this will be in the native log half during request processing, that's where you have to turn up logging and do your debugging. Default native log output in 3.x is to syslog and some of it is mirrored to Apache error logs. There will probably be nothing of consequence in the shibd log.<br>

The error means you've probably misapplied the settings and don't have consistent use of the applicationId property in the right places to make the override work.<br>
