      For the original extension work back in 2009, someone did a Java

      implementation of such a client for the Java-based uPortal

      application, but I suspect it's quite out of date at this point

      (IIRC based on now-defunct Apache Commons HttpClient v3). <br>

    I was mistaken.  From the wiki info, actually looks like the Java

    uPortal one was based on HC v4.  It's still probably a bit outdated

    since there's been a lot of API changes in HC since 2009-2010.  But

    it at least might serve as a useful starting point for an updated

    impl.<br>
