<div>For what it's worth, the first Shibboleth 3.x install fest, at least, had a good bit more Linux users than Windows, at least going off of memory. I don't know if that is representative of deployment at large.</div>

<div>Performance wise, as has been mentioned, the IDP and servlet container are java based, so performance will largely have to do with the implementation of the JVM.</div>
