We are already using it for Google Apps and several other Shibboleth SPs. The difference is that all of our other SPs have our users log in to the page at /idp/Authn/UserPassword, while Office365 uses /idp/AuthnEngine. When submitting the form on this page, it appears from the logs that it does not even attempt a lookup in the directory when coming through this path.
