<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Microsoft terminology, as always, is confusing. In the beginning (of Azure, the group I worked in before leaving MS) there were web roles and worker roles.
Those are now labeled as parts of a cloud service. MS has added the new web role as a stand-alone lightweight hosting facility. I am referring to the former web role within the cloud service. With it you can have startup scripts specified in the service definition
file. The new web role is a complete non-starter because it doesn't yet support SSL. Anyway, you probably knew all of this but I hope the explanation clears up any confusion that may have existed in this thread's readers.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
