Thanks Scott.

I changed the http proxy to a mod_proxy_ajp. I tried accessing /idp/status and checked the log files for IDP, Apache and Tomcat.

IDP log file : No errors!

Apache log file : (error.log) following warning --

proxy: No protocol handler was valid for the URL /idp/status. If you are using a DSO version of mod_proxy, make sure the proxy submodules are included in the configuration using LoadModule.

Tomcat log file : (catalina.out) No errors!

I understand that IDP does not have a problem here, the problem is with my web servers. I get this message on my browser: Internal Server Error.

Strictly speaking this is not a problem with the IDP. But I would really appreciate some help with the warning in the apache error log.

That isn't how you want to connect them. You need to use mod_proxy_ajp,
not an HTTP proxy.
