Parameterized queries?

Does Shibboleth IdP support parameterized queries? We are running Shibboleth IdP 5.1.4 and using the RelationalDatabase DataConnector with QueryTemplate to query a MySQL database in attribute-resolver.xml. Currently we are running queries like the Shib IdP documentation examples show:

SELECT * FROM people WHERE userid='$resolutionContext.principal'

However, I'm wondering if there is a way to bind the input values in a parameterized query. Thanks!
