I'm pretty sure, shibd  not going down with previous version open SAML v 3.3.0

Could you please elaborate below suggestion. I haven’t tried before attaching debugger to find out stack trace.

It's telling you the backup copy of the metadata is out of date, and were I to hazard a guess, I'd suspect it's crashing trying to load a massive metadata file that it can't handle anymore, and so it either catches an exception and tries to use an out of date backup copy, or just dies outright.

If you want to know why a process crashes, you get a core dump, attach a debugger, and check the stack trace.

If you really believe an update caused it, then you could always roll it back and prove it.
