Duplicate attributes after upgrade to Shibboleth 5

Hi all,

We upgraded our Shibboleth IdP from 4.3 to 5.1.2 ad then to 5.1.3 and all
was good (so I thought). There were some issue when it come to REFED
research and Scholarship (eduGAIN) tests that I was not able to resolve.
The issue being that Shibboleth is now releasing duplicate values for
attributes.
The attributes are single valued and come from a one Active Directory
domain controller. What might cause this and what should I look for?
