We have no particular support for using Spring-JDBC, never did. If you want to use it, that's fine I suppose, but that would be on you to manage.

I wouldn't recommend it, you'd have to track the Spring version across every release.

I would imagine if it was there before that would have been an accident, probably a dependency declared too broadly.
