I do have my audit logs go into a different file, those get fed to our security group's magic "SEIM" whereas the process logs don't. As the timestamps are down to the millisecond, correlating them usually isn't an issue. There was an audit record for the CAS service ticket issuance between the first successful authentication and the log records for the second that ended up complaining about a disappearing record.

Thanks for the thoughts; I'm still not quite clear how this happens, but if you're not worried about it I guess I shouldn't be :).
