SP setup: Frontend NGINX, backend Apache w/ shibd ?

If you want to front-end Apache with nginx, do it, I suppose.

Having said that, why? If you're including Apache to begin with, adding nginx doesn't add much benefit.

I understand, though disagree with, the reasons people seem to think they need nginx instead, but I can't see a compelling case for using both, as that would undermine the reasons for choosing nginx.

As for the SP, if the argument is over having to rebuild it, that can be scripted pretty easily. Even building on Windows is pretty automatable nowadays. If that's the problem, it's not a major one.
