I suggest you use the documentation, but that is the correct change.

I'd probably mess with the file to invalidate something in it (use a different bean ID, omit a closing tag, etc.) and then make sure the IdP fails to start successfully (or if it starts that a CAS request to it fails with an obvious error and logging showing it's using the broken file).

Absent that, I have no advice, that is the way to change it.
