I don't think it's possible to do it at present. It might be possible if we built an entire service around it and isolated the registry of metric objects somehow into a service so it could be recreated, but there are tendrils into it even in OpenSAML, so it would not be easy to pull off.

There's been so little (apparent) use of the feature that since we built it it hasn't really gotten much attention.
