The existing code base is frozen and has to be replaced. The discussion of that is in [1].

So yes, this is a very "not ideal" time to be considering using it, it has no future in this form.

The replacement will be an IdP plugin (and require the same sorts of configuration as the IdP does, XML and Spring) along with much simpler and smaller agents for Apache and IIS, and whatever other environments come along. And yes, Java is one of the possibilitites for that eventually.

The overall footprint is going to be larger than it is now. The deployment of any given agent may be much smaller than it is now.
