FWIW, that documentation doesn't mention that you'd have to add
attributePrefix="AJP_" to your ApplicationDefaults if you want the
attributes to cross over to Tomcat.
Also the fact that they're mentioning mod_jk (not included with Apache
httpd and I thought that was long dead) and not mod_proxy_ajp (comes
with Apache httpd) makes me even more sceptical (see signature below).

Their documentation is wrong. All vendor documentation is wrong.
