Thanks, Scott. I appreciate that suggestion, but I suspect they'll find it much easier to just use the application override with the different handler URL, and since that's not especially broken, I don't see a need to push back.

The proper fix, in my opinion, would be to put their different applications on different hostnames instead of different paths, but that's also currently not an option for them.

Modify the applications to detect the "mismatch" and route the user out to a new login I guess.
