Releasing the same attribute with different friendly names?

To be fair, I'm not being accurate saying it can't still be done, but it won't happen accidentally anymore. You'd have to attach activationConditions to the encoders or the attribute definitions, or...I guess what you're doing, use filtering rules to limit them to a single possible source per SP.

What I was just referencing was that if you released both IdPAttributes to one SP, it would now combine them, and the FriendlyName would be unspecified, whichever one happened to be generated first.

But if they were discrete, yes, you can in effect "select" the FriendlyName by SP.

I definitely wouldn't, it's a terrible idea and about the most explicit MUST NOT in the entire document set. The standard can't be any clearer about it.
