If you're using the CLI, there are command-line options:

> Logging Options - these options are mutually exclusive
>   --verbose              Turn on verbose messages.
>   --quiet                Restrict output messages to errors and warnings.
> 
>   --logConfig            Specifies a logback configuration file to use to configure logging.


The --logConfig option takes a straightforward logback configuration file, so their documentation applies.
