Yes, that's how you upgrade, and in such a case what you're describing doesn't make any sense. So I don't have any other suggestion to give you other than you need to debug the system. That's what the logs are for. Look at a trace from accessing that SP prior to the upgrade and then after, there have to be differences pointing to what's going wrong.

In either case, it has to be demanding that format, so you need to figure out why it suddenly can't supply that format after the upgrade.
