Fair I guess, but I don't know of any viable clustering solution that isn't unreliable in the end and after 30 years I've just stopped trying to find one. YMMV. "It works until it doesn't" seems to be the story of every option.

But there's no future for this code, so anything written for it now is a dead end. If you want to plan for a robust option and put some time into it, I'd write it for the Java StorageService API, which has the benefit of supporting both the IdP now and the SP later.
