FWIW, mine is nothing at all special. In fact, the only special thing is that they support GCM encryption, which is...certainly not common for anything but Shibboleth.

We pass a non-email identifier in a custom Attribute, but I didn't configure the SP side, so clearly it's pretty flexible on that score and I don’t recall having any special problems with it.

It definitely supports encryption.
