Correct; it's twice either way. It's just, with solutions like OSU is using, at least it's a cleaner user experience instead oof an intententional failed authentication response.

And yesh, it seems like the only thing involved in getting this working is removing the check you have in the IdP that traps the sms factor and logs the error I mentioned earlier.

Would you like me to file a feature request?

I guess if it's just a matter of letting it fail it's not that hard to do, I would just think the better user experience for somebody that wanted that factor would be to get codes first. I suppose you still end up having to login twice that way anyway.
