Smartsheet SSO Configuration Problems

Hi all,
We are having a time setting up SSO with Smartsheet.  Has anyone been successfull in integrating with them?  Their SAML documentation is here - https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2476141-configure-saml-sso

We have met all of their guidelines for attribute release, name id format, and idp metadata, yet we still get a generic “Single Sign-on failed due to missing or invalid parameters.”  This is the only error message we ever get and after a couple escalations with their support, I still don’t know what their logs say the problem is.
